Proposed Filming - During the public forum Mr. Philip Lobban, location scout spoke regarding proposed filming which is to take place in the village between 18th and 25th August. This is a contemporary production which is expected to have world wide distribution. There may be "extras" opportunities. Local residents may be assured that disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Police Report It was suggested that, due to increased prices in fuel, parishioners should be especially vigilant to avoid becoming a victim of fuel theft - please speak to your local PCSO who will be pleased to offer appropriate advice.
Burial Grounds - Unfortunately there have been some incidents of litter around the entrance to the burial grounds. The police are aware of this problem and are managing it.
Churchyard Wall - The Parish Council are pleased to notify residents that work has been put in hand to repair the churchyard wall.
Weed killing (as notified in our previous notes). It has been confirmed that this has not been authorised by the Parish Council, Essex County Council or Braintree District Council.
An application for planning has been received from Vale Cottage, Rushey Green.
Temporary Road Closure - There will be a temporary road closure to allow for work in respect of footway, drainage, signage and lining works in Nunnery Street from 7:00 a.m. Monday 11th August to 5:00 p.m. on Friday 15th August and again from 7:00 a.m. on Monday 18th August to 5:00 p.m. on 22nd August.
Wheelie Bins - BDC is proposing to introduce wheelie bins to Castle Hedingham; residents will shortly be advised of a date, time and place for a roadshow to be held at which any queries and concerns may be raised and addressed.
Post Office - For operational reasons the Post Office in Castle Hedingham has been temporarily closed. There is as yet no time scale for resumption of service.
Potholes - The PE Parish Information Co-ordination Officer has produced a media release "Making Potholes History" and is requesting assistance from the public to notify road defects. Further details to follow.
Drainage - Work is to be put in hand to repair drainage at the Memorial Hall.
Visitors - The playing fields have been visited by moles! Work is in hand to address this problem. We have also had reports of broken glass in the play equipment area. Clearing of this problem has been put in hand.
Memorial Hall Window - The replacement of this window has been under discussion for some time by the Memorial Hall Management Committee.
Parish Clerk - Mrs. Carter, who has served the Parish Council for twelve years as parish clerk, has now completed her time with the Council who wish to express their thanks and that of the local residents for her superb support and help during this time.
Parish Council Meeting Date: 13th August, 2008 at 7.45 p.m. The agenda will be placed on the Parish Council Notice boards during the week prior to the meeting; will parishioners please note that at the beginning of each meeting there is a public forum during which time any concerns can be bought to the attention of the Council. It would be helpful if any contributors could contact the Clerk prior to the meeting.
