Additional Restrictions Grant is open to applications

The Additional Restrictions Grant scheme is now open to applications.

This discretionary scheme seeks to help businesses in certain sectors who have had their trade severely impacted by the extension of COVID-19 restrictions, regardless of whether they pay business rates or not.

What help is available?

Applications will be assessed individually against the criteria, with grant payments being made based on the size of the business, using three payment bands of:

£3,000 for businesses occupying properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under or for non-rated properties a micro-business (0 - 9 employees)

£4,000 for businesses occupying properties with a rateable value of £15,001 to £50,999 or for non-rated properties a small business (10 – 49 employees)

£5,000 for businesses occupying properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over or for non-rated properties a medium or large business (50 – 249 employees)

To qualify for this grant, your business is:

  • a business which is based or operates primarily within the Braintree District
  • is not part of a larger national chain or franchise, except for those registered as sole traders
  • has relatively high on-going fixed costs e.g. business premises and/or equipment costs (excluding staffing costs)
  • a business which falls into the weddings, events and/or international travel sectors

Which businesses are eligible?

This fund will support the following types of businesses:
