Surge in Demand for Mental Health Support Prompts New Campaign

Community360 is supporting a countywide campaign which launches today that aims to tackle declining mental wellbeing in the county as a result of coronavirus. The campaign is being led by Essex County Council (ECC) and is supported by partners and organisations across Essex.
Latest figures show the number of assessments by adult mental health practitioners have increased by around 50% and referrals to mental health professionals have increased significantly.
The Essex Mental Health and Wellbeing Team is also seeing its highest number of referrals since it was established.
In response, ECC is launching Mental Health Essex, a targeted, countywide campaign that aims to reach those most at risk of suffering with mental health issues as a result of Covid-19, providing information and support.

Colchester Borough Council - Notes to Community Groups to Encourage use of the New Contact Tracing App

The Government’s new Contact Tracing app will soon been launched in the fight against Covid-19.

As you may well have seen in the news, the Government’s new Contact Tracing app will soon been launched in the fight against Covid-19.

The app, once downloaded and activated on your smartphone, will log when you are in close proximity to other people and, in the event they test positive for Covid-19, alert you.

Essex County Council survey to explore service users' experience of Covid-19 

Essex County Council (ECC) and partners want to understand what people’s experiences during Covid-19 has been like over the last few months.  The responses you share will help us understand what is important to you and to inform work we do across Adult Social Care (ASC) in future.  
Your views are important to us and by completing this survey your responses will help us to make better decisions.  The online survey can be completed until 18th October 2020.

Health Watch Essex – Communications Pack for Health and Social Care

The Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System is currently working with Healthwatch Essex and Suffolk to ask people about using digital NHS and Social Care Services. The pack encourages people to take part in this survey.

Colchester Borough Council - In Person Customer Consultation….Deadline 9 October

Please take 5 minutes to complete the council’s questionnaire. It will allow them to review changes and gather feedback from the Borough’s residents on the way they have adapted the way in which they engage with the public during the pandemic.

The Goldies Charity - Golden Oldies 

The Goldies Charity (Golden-Oldies), are well loved by over 3500 older participants who – up until Lockdown – joined in with their local Sing&Smile social group, their intergenerational activities, Age Awareness events and festive parties. 
Until they return, they are providing free online sing-along sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 11.00am.

Important Information on Coronavirus Testing

Want to book a coronavirus test? - please do not call 111 or your GP practice
The NHS is urging people not to call its 111 helpline or their GP practice or visit their hospital’s emergency department if they want a coronavirus test.
That’s the message from health professionals across Suffolk and north east Essex who have highlighted a big increase in call volumes, with some GP practices reporting that one in five telephone calls relate to coronavirus testing.

Suffolk County Council - Subsidised Online Suicide Prevention First Aid Training

The National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training UK CIC and Suffolk County Council is providing training in Suffolk and North East Essex to raise awareness of suicide and increase skills.  The aim is to increase knowledge, skills and confidence, while challenging the stigma that can be a barrier to people at risk accessing help and keeping safe

Plumb Associates – To Identify Opportunities for Environmental Enhancement

Plumb Associates had been commissioned by Colchester Borough Council to identify opportunities for environmental enhancement along the route of the Colchester Orbital just before the Covid-19 lockdown, but things are reactivating again now! Steve and Julia Plumb have been talking to stakeholders with an interest in this route.

Having a flu vaccination will help protect you, your family and your NHS

Health professionals across north east Essex and Suffolk are emphasising that it has never been more crucial for people in at-risk groups to have a flu vaccination.
It is safe to attend a flu clinic to have your vaccination. This year there will be a change to the way flu vaccinations are delivered as health teams need to factor in social distancing and infection prevention measures in order to continue to keep people safe.
