Castle Hedingham Recreation Field

Feb 18, 2019

Dear Residents of Castle Hedingham, this is to let you know that an
agreement has been reached between the Castle and Castle Hedingham
Parish Council over the recreation field. Prior to coming to this
agreement, the Parish Council took legal advice on all the issues and
options involved. The agreement that has been reached between
Hedingham Castle and the Parish Council offers the only way forward
for our village to have a community open space and playground for the
future.
Occupation by the Parish Council of the land at New Park has now
ceased and it has been returned to the ownership of Hedingham Castle.
The play equipment is obsolete and will be removed shortly, and the
fences will be reinstated. Therefore there will be no public access to this
site.
The Castle has agreed to offer a lease on an alternative site at the former
allotments by the church, for use as an informal recreation area. This
presents the Parish Council with an exciting opportunity to provide a
first class community open space which will include a children’s play
area. It is intended that the whole community will have an input into
this project. At our last public meeting in January 2018, we said we
would update the village on any progress. To find out more, please come
along to our PUBLIC MEETING at 7.30PM on MONDAY
25TH FEBRUARY at the Memorial Hall. Your views and
ideas for the best use of the new community open space will be very
welcome. We hope to see many of you there.
